    Betway Africa, which is part of the Super Group, a prominent NYSE-listed digital gaming company, is seeking a Head of Compliance to join its Johannesburg team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the company adheres to industry, legal, and regulatory requirements across various governing bodies. The ideal candidate will play a key role in developing risk management processes and ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and internal policies.

    The company, which has grown significantly since its inception in 1999, currently boasts a talented team of over 300 individuals dedicated to innovation in the gaming industry.

    Role Overview

    The Head of Compliance will serve as the primary contact for regulatory queries and compliance issues within the organisation. This position involves developing and implementing compliance systems and documentation, assisting business units in creating compliant policies, and developing a compliance audit plan to report on regulatory adherence to senior management.

    Key responsibilities include:

    • Acting as an escalation point for regulatory compliance queries.
    • Creating and implementing compliance documentation structures.
    • Advising business units on developing appropriate compliance policies.
    • Developing risk management processes to minimise non-compliance.
    • Identifying innovative solutions to regulatory challenges.

    Essential Skills

    Candidates should possess:

    • A Bachelor’s degree in Compliance, Law, or a related field.
    • A minimum of 6 to 10 years of post-qualification experience in the financial services sector.
    • At least 5 to 8 years in a management role.
    • Knowledge of Responsible Gambling and Player Protection practices.
    • Experience with regulatory license applications in the gaming industry.
    • Strong communication skills, both orally and in writing, with the ability to engage at all levels of seniority.

    Desirable Skills

    Additional skills that would be advantageous include:

    • In-depth knowledge of sports betting markets and industry regulations.
    • Previous experience in the online gaming or casino industry.
    • Familiarity with customer retention strategies and statistical analysis tools.
