    SA rejects US pressure to stop using Huawei Technology

    South Africa has made a firm decision to resist pressure from the United States to discontinue using Huawei Technologies’ equipment on its networks. This demonstrates the country’s commitment to exercising its sovereignty in determining its technological partnerships.

    1. The rejection of US pressure comes amidst escalating conflicts between the US and China, particularly regarding issues such as Taiwan and technological dominance. South Africa’s stance reflects its desire to maintain its own independent foreign policy and avoid being drawn into geopolitical disputes.
    2. South Africa enjoys a robust relationship with China, which is its largest trading partner. The decision to continue using Huawei technology reinforces the country’s commitment to maintaining strong ties with China and leveraging the benefits of their economic partnership.
