BMW South Africa has announced plans to invest R42 billion (approximately $2.9 billion) in its Tshwane plant.

    1. The investment will be used to upgrade the plant’s production capabilities and make it more energy-efficient and sustainable.
    2. The upgrade will enable the plant to produce the latest generation of BMW’s X3 model.
    3. The investment is expected to create around 1,200 new jobs at the plant and support a further 10,000 jobs in the local supply chain.
    4. The Tshwane plant has been in operation since 2018 and currently employs around 2,500 people.
    5. BMW’s investment in the Tshwane plant is part of its broader commitment to sustainable manufacturing and reducing its carbon footprint.
