Changan has officially expanded its footprint in KwaZulu-Natal with the launch of its new flagship dealership in Umhlanga, marking another significant milestone in the brand’s rapidly growing national dealer network.

Located at 60 Meridian Drive, Umhlanga, the newly launched facility represents a major investment into the province and reinforces Changan’s long-term commitment to building a durable and customer-focused automotive retail presence across the country.

Strategically positioned within one of KwaZulu-Natal’s most prestigious commercial and retail precincts, the Umhlanga dealership was deliberately selected as a flagship location for the brand’s regional growth ambitions.

A Lineup of Choice, Variety and Value

Customers visiting the new Umhlanga dealership will have access to Changan’s growing product portfolio, which continues to expand across passenger, SUV, bakkie and new-EV segments.

The dealership will retail key models including the compact and value-focused Changan Alsvin, the bold and progressive UNI-S, the spacious and family-oriented CS75 Pro, as well as the capable Hunter Diesel range, including the world-first, Hunter K50 REEV electrified bakkie.

The showroom will also showcase Changan’s growing new-energy ambitions through the premium all-electric Deepal S07, further strengthening the brand’s expanding presence within South Africa’s evolving mobility landscape.

Designed to cater to a wide range of customer needs and lifestyles, the product lineup reflects Changan’s focus on combining modern design, advanced technology, practicality, and accessible value across multiple vehicle categories.

A Strategic Investment into Long-Term Growth

The dealership forms part of Changan’s broader national expansion strategy, which aims to establish approximately 45 dealerships across South Africa during 2026.

Developed to meet Changan’s global Corporate Identity and Brand standards, the multi-million rand facility has been designed to deliver a modern, premium and fully integrated customer experience across vehicle sales, servicing, parts and aftersales support.

Adding to this, Feisal Essack – Dealer Principal of Changan Umhlanga echoed, “This facility is the result of a strong partnership between Changan, Jameel Motors, and our dealership group, built on a shared vision of growth, customer excellence and sustainable long-term investment. We are proud to partner with a global automotive brand that combines innovation, quality, and value in a way that strongly resonates with the South African consumer.”

Beyond infrastructure investment, the dealership has also contributed to meaningful local economic development through permanent employment opportunities created across sales, aftersales, parts and administrative functions, with all staff locally recruited.

Building Automotive Infrastructure for South Africa

The launch further reflects Jameel Motors’ long-term vision for the South African market, with continued investment being made not only into products, but also into the people, facilities and operational systems required to support sustainable long-term growth.

Since Changan’s launch in the South African market in late 2025, the brand has rapidly established a growing national footprint, supported by increasing consumer awareness and expanding dealer representation.

Backed by more than 160 years of global manufacturing heritage, Changan continues to strengthen its position internationally while actively competing for top-three Chinese automotive brand status within South Africa.

In attendance for the dealership launch was Stephanie Wang, Sales Director of Changan MEA, who used the occasion to reaffirm Changan’s long-term growth ambitions for the South African market, while also highlighting several important new models planned for local introduction in the near future.

From our light commercial vehicle range to the Nevo Q05, Deepal S05 and UNI-S HEV, we are focused on bringing South African customers greater choice, advanced technology, efficient performance and practical mobility solutions designed for the future,” said Wang.

A Commitment to Customers and Communities

Commenting on the dealership launch, Marinus Venter, General Manager of Jameel Motors South Africa, said the Umhlanga investment reflects the brand’s confidence in both the province and the broader South African market.

“The launch of the Changan Umhlanga flagship dealership represents far more than simply opening another showroom facility. It reflects our long-term commitment to South Africa, our confidence in the growth potential of the local market, and our focus on building a dealer network that delivers genuine customer support and long-term value,” said Venter.

“As we continue expanding nationally, our focus remains on investing in world-class facilities, strong local partnerships, and the infrastructure required to support South African motorists for years to come.”
