Eskom Holdings SOC Limited, South Africa’s state-owned power utility and the continent’s largest electricity producer, is recruiting a Group Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to drive financial transformation and sustainability during one of the most critical phases in its history.

The role offers a rare opportunity to shape the future of a national institution that supplies over 86% of South Africa’s power and contributes roughly 20% of the electricity generated across Africa. Reporting directly to the Group Chief Executive and working closely with the Board, the CFO will provide strategic, financial, and operational leadership to restore Eskom’s financial stability and reinforce investor confidence.

The successful candidate will be expected to steer Eskom’s financial turnaround while supporting the broader national agenda for a just energy transition—balancing commercial imperatives with socio-economic responsibilities. This will involve managing Eskom’s complex capital and debt structures, strengthening internal controls, and driving reforms in revenue collection, cost optimization, and tariff policy.

Beyond financial management, the CFO will play a pivotal role in mobilizing funding for renewable energy and infrastructure projects, engaging with regulators, government departments, and investors to position Eskom as a credible, transparent, and forward-looking entity. The post demands strong strategic foresight, deep understanding of capital markets, and proven experience in leading transformation within large, complex organizations.

Candidates must bring a track record of executive-level leadership, ideally within capital-intensive sectors such as energy, power, or infrastructure. A Chartered Accountant (SA) qualification and registration with SAICA or an equivalent professional body are essential, along with demonstrable expertise in large-scale financial restructuring and stakeholder management.

Based at Eskom’s Head Office in Johannesburg, the role offers a competitive remuneration package. Interested candidates are invited to submit their applications—quoting Eskom GCFO—to executive.search@SearchPartners.co.za by 16 November 2025.

Eskom is an equal opportunity employer, committed to employment equity and diversity.
