Applications are now open for the annual SAB Foundation Social Innovation Awards and Disability Empowerment Awards.
- Prizes range from R300,000 to R1.3 million in funding, along with valuable business skills development, coaching, mentorship, and technical support.
- The awards are open to entrepreneurs with innovative solutions that address social issues faced by underserved communities or enhance economic access and empowerment for persons with disabilities.
- The Social Innovation Awards target innovators, entrepreneurs, and social enterprises with prototypes or early-stage businesses that can tackle social problems in new or innovative ways.
- The Disability Empowerment Awards recognize entrepreneurs or social enterprises that have developed innovations improving access to the economy and/or providing solutions for persons living with disabilities.
- Previous winners have addressed diverse sectors such as health, housing, education, rural livelihoods, energy, water, and financial inclusion, directly benefiting low-income women, youth, or rural residents.
- Since the inception of the awards, close to R110 million has been invested, empowering 174 entrepreneurs, creating 1,577 jobs, and positively impacting 9,940 livelihoods.
