GWM is introducing its highly anticipated Tank 300 model in South Africa, aiming to compete in the fiercely contested 4×4 segment currently dominated by the Toyota Fortuner.
- The initial range of the Tank 300 consists of two 2.0-litre turbopetrol models, with the Super Luxury variant priced at R725,950 and the Ultra Luxury variant at R775,950.
- There is also a hybrid version, the Super Luxury Hybrid, available immediately at a retail price of R851,950.
- The regular 2.0T models will be available in showrooms later in March.
- The Tank 300 is slightly shorter but wider than the Toyota Fortuner and is offered only in a five-seat configuration.
- Despite the Fortuner’s lower starting price of R673,100, the Tank 300 is comparatively cheaper when considering similar specifications, as the least expensive 2.8-litre 4×4 Fortuner costs over R900,000.
- The Tank 300 features a 2.0T petrol engine with an eight-speed automatic gearbox, a full-time 4×4 system with low-range gearing, and advanced off-road capabilities such as Multi-Terrain Select and Tank Turn functionality.
