    New Leadership at Sasol: Muriel Dube Appointed

    Muriel Dube was appointed as the chairperson of Sasol effective from September 13, 2024.

    1. Background:
      • Joined Sasol board in 2018 as an independent non-executive director.
      • Holds an MSc from Oxford in environmental change and management, with extensive experience in sustainability and finance.
    2. Professional Experience:
      • Previously served in key roles including chief negotiator for SA in climate change talks, group commercial director at Bidvest, and CEO of Nozala Investments.
    3. Sustainability Focus:
      • Dube’s appointment aligns with Sasol’s commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 30% by 2030 and achieve net zero by 2050.
    4. Emissions Data:
      • Sasol ranked 56th among top CO2 emitters globally, with emissions slightly increasing in 2023 to over 64,000 kilotonnes of CO2.
    5. Additional Appointments:
      • Martina Flöel appointed as lead independent director, and other board changes include David Eyton and Katherine Harper in new committee roles.
