How Capitec introduced data packages at reduced rates

    September 22, 2023
    Gerrie Fourie - Capitec CEO

Capitec, a South African bank, has introduced new large data packages at significantly reduced rates, targeting the country’s telecom industry.

    1. The bank’s mobile unit, Capitec Connect, now offers a 10GB prepaid data bundle priced at R199, which is more than 50% cheaper than standard industry prepaid rates.
    2. The move is part of Capitec’s strategy to provide customers with larger data bundles at more affordable prices compared to its competitors.
    3. By offering lower mobile data prices, Capitec aims to attract customers seeking cost-effective data options and increase its market share in the telecoms sector.
    4. The bank’s offering provides an opportunity for customers to access larger amounts of data for various online activities such as browsing, streaming, and communication.
    5. Subscribers to Capitec’s data bundles will benefit from competitive pricing while enjoying the convenience of accessing the service through their banking relationship.
    6. Capitec’s initiative aligns with the growing demand for affordable and accessible mobile data services, catering to the needs of consumers who rely on data connectivity for their daily activities.
