    Glencore-backed company to be acquired for $8-billion

    Bunge Ltd. has agreed to acquire Viterra Inc. for $8.2 billion in cash and stock, creating a global agricultural commodity trader with operations in North America, South America, Europe, and Asia.

    1. The deal, which is expected to close in the second half of 2023, will create a company with annual sales of $40 billion and a combined workforce of 30,000 people.
    2. Bunge is a leading global agribusiness that operates in the oilseeds, grains, and fertilizer sectors. Viterra is a leading global agribusiness that operates in the grain, oilseeds, and fertilizer sectors.
    3. The acquisition will give Bunge a larger presence in the global agricultural market and will allow it to better compete with other major players, such as Cargill and Archer-Daniels-Midland.
    4. The deal is expected to face regulatory scrutiny, but Bunge is confident that it will be approved.
